MCV volunteers provide transportation assistance, friendly home visits and calls, grocery shopping and social activities needed to “age in place.” MCV also coordinates several community-wide events/activities annually to foster social connection among older residents and across generations.

Mill Creek Village is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization that supports older adults in remaining independent and connected while continuing to live in their own homes. Since 2013, the organization has served residents age 60 and older in the Mill Creek Towne neighborhood of Derwood, Maryland, providing practical assistance and social support for residents aging in place.

What They Do

Mill Creek Village, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating under EIN 46‑2913341. Built around the simple concept of “neighbors helping neighbors,” the organization serves older adults who want to remain in their homes as they face challenges related to aging, including limited mobility, health concerns, transportation needs, and social isolation.

Volunteers provide a variety of services that support residents’ independence. Transportation assistance helps older adults get to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential destinations. Volunteers also assist with grocery shopping, provide friendly home visits and phone calls, and connect members with resources that support their daily needs.

In addition to one-on-one assistance, Mill Creek Village organizes social activities and community events that foster connection among older residents and strengthen neighborhood relationships. These programs provide opportunities for meaningful engagement with friends, neighbors, and volunteers.

The organization’s service area includes the Mill Creek Towne community in Derwood, Maryland, encompassing nearly 800 residences on both sides of Shady Grove Road. By combining volunteer support with community-building activities, Mill Creek Village provides older adults with practical support and opportunities to remain active participants in the neighborhood they call home. Additional information about its services and volunteer opportunities is available at www.millcreekvillage.org.
