To foster friendship, fun, caring, and connection among our members, helping them to stay independent, active, and engaged through shared experiences, mutual support, and trusted volunteer services.
Bethesda Metro Area Village is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community of neighbors aged 50 and over who come together to support one another while continuing to live independently at home. Incorporated in Maryland in 2014 and formally launched in 2016, the Village grew out of a local effort to build stronger connections among older adults and has developed into a membership organization serving more than a hundred residents in the Bethesda area.
Bethesda Metro Area Village (Tax ID: 47-1380283) offers a mix of volunteer-supported services and ongoing social programming designed to reduce isolation and help members remain active in their community. Members take part in a full calendar of in-person and virtual activities, including speaker events, coffee gatherings, book discussions, museum outings, walking groups, cycling, and shared interest groups such as gardening, arts, birding, film, language conversation, knitting, and current events.
For members enrolled in Full Service, the Village also coordinates volunteer assistance to support daily living at home. Services may include transportation to appointments, errands, friendly visits, regular check-ins, and help with small household tasks. Volunteers, made up of both members and community participants, support these services while also helping organize events and sustain Village operations. This shared model of participation is central to how the organization builds connection and support across its membership.

Your donation goes directly to Bethesda Metro Area Village’s volunteer network and community programs that enable older adults in Bethesda to age safely and independently at home through transportation services, friendly visits, social programming, and the coordination efforts that keep Village services up and running. Donations are eligible for 100% tax deductions, and free vehicle pickup is also included, so volunteers can keep programs like transportation and check-ins running without added cost to members.
