The League for People with Disabilities, or simply known as The League, is a Baltimore-based nonprofit that provides vocational, rehabilitative, educational, medical, wellness, and recreational services for people with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. Founded in April 1927, it now serves more than 4,000 individuals annually through programs designed to increase independence, self-sufficiency, and quality of life.
What They Do
The League provides programs for youth and adults with disabilities across Greater Baltimore. Its Adult Medical Day, Multiple Sclerosis Day, and SCALE Aphasia programs combine structured care, wellness activities, therapy access, case management, recreation, and social connection for adults with medical, neurological, or communication-related needs.
Meaningful Day services help participants develop skills, pursue individualized goals, and participate more fully in community life. Day Habilitation includes wellness, education, self-advocacy, recreation, and pre-vocational activities, while Community Development Services support small groups as they volunteer, practice decision-making, and strengthen social and daily living skills.
Employment Services offers career planning, vocational evaluations, internships, job coaching, work adjustment training, job development, and employer partnerships. The League also provides Youth Autism Services, personal and behavioral supports, an accessible Wellness Center with fitness equipment and a therapeutic pool, and inclusive recreation through its camps and CLUB1111, Maryland’s first nightclub for adults with disabilities.
The League for People with Disabilities Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with Tax ID 52-0591579; learn more about its programs at leagueforpeople.org.
