VersAbility Resources

VersAbility Resources is a nonprofit organization that empowers people with disabilities to live, work, and thrive in their communities. Founded in 1953 by a group of parents seeking better opportunities for their children with developmental disabilities, the organization now serves individuals and families throughout the Hampton Roads, Middle Peninsula, and Northern Neck regions of Virginia and provides employment opportunities nationwide through federal contracts.

What They Do

VersAbility Resources provides a continuum of services for people with disabilities from early childhood through adulthood. Its Early Childhood Program provides developmental support for young children and resources for their families. As individuals grow older, they can access Day Support services that promote independence through community engagement, life skills development, recreation, volunteer opportunities, and meaningful daily activities.

Employment is another cornerstone of VersAbility’s work. The organization provides job coaching, workforce training, supported employment, and government contract positions that give people with disabilities opportunities to develop careers, build confidence, and achieve financial independence. Through VersAbility TECH, participants also receive industry-recognized training and certifications that prepare them for careers in today’s workforce.

For individuals who need additional support, Community Living services provide safe residential homes with around-the-clock assistance that promotes independence and meaningful connections within the community.

Founded more than 70 years ago, VersAbility now serves more than 1,500 people with disabilities and their families each year. The organization also operates one of the nation’s largest government contracting programs, creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
