United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is a national nonprofit organization that promotes independence, inclusion, and opportunity for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Founded in 1949, UCP works through a network of affiliates across the United States and Canada, providing individuals with disabilities and their families access to services, advocacy, technology, education, and community support.
What They Do
United Cerebral Palsy supports people with cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and other disabilities throughout every stage of life. Through its network of affiliates, UCP provides programs that promote independent living, employment, assistive technology access, family support, advocacy, community inclusion, and early intervention services.
In addition to direct support programs, UCP advocates for disability rights at the local, state, and federal levels. The organization works to improve access to healthcare, transportation, education, employment opportunities, and community resources that promote greater independence for individuals with disabilities.
UCP also invests in research, innovation, and professional development. According to its 2024–2025 Annual Report, UCP’s network served more than 200,000 people with disabilities and their families. The organization also operates the Bellows Fund, which provides grants for assistive technology.
For more than 75 years, UCP has worked to remove barriers and expand opportunities for people with disabilities, supporting greater participation in school, work, family life, and community activities. United Cerebral Palsy, Inc. operates under EIN 13-5605467. Learn more about its programs and services at https://ucp.org/.
