WYBeanstalk is a Sacramento-area nonprofit that connects eligible families with licensed, home-based child care and preschool programs at little or no cost. Through a network of over 600 participating providers, Beanstalk helps ensure children across the greater Sacramento region have access to safe, consistent early care within their own communities.
Nutrition Support Through the USDA Child Care Food Program
A key component of Beanstalk’s (Tax ID: 94-2399708) services is its role as an umbrella sponsor for the USDA Child Care Food Program, which supports over 600 licensed family child care homes throughout the region. This federally funded program ensures that children under 13 years of age in participating homes receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet USDA standards.
The Child Care Food Program reduces the cost burden for families by ensuring providers cannot charge separately for meals while participating in the program. Providers are reimbursed for up to three meals per child per day.
Beanstalk staff also provide ongoing monitoring, technical assistance, and training to ensure compliance and quality in meal preparation and service.
In addition to provider oversight, Beanstalk offers family support services that include parent education opportunities, Parent Advisory Committees (PAC), community referrals to health and social services, and child development progress assessments that help families stay engaged in their child’s learning journey.
