A Little Bit of Heaven is a New York State–registered nonprofit equine rehabilitation center with federal 501(c)(3) status. Their mission is to rescue unwanted, mistreated, abused, or neglected horses, rehabilitate them, and place them in good homes – giving each horse the chance to reach its fullest potential.
Saving the Lives of Abused Horses
A Little Bit of Heaven (Tax ID: 86-1841992) provides a safe and humane alternative to horse slaughter by caring for horses that have been injured, neglected, underweight, or are pregnant mares ready to foal. Through medical treatment and training-based rehabilitation, the organization works to restore each horse’s health, confidence, and quality of life, preparing them for adoption or long-term sponsorship. While not a no-kill shelter, the organization makes every effort to save the animals entrusted to its care and only considers euthanasia when severe health or safety concerns leave no other option.
In addition to rehabilitation and adoption services, A Little Bit of Heaven offers “Sponsor a Horse” and “Foster a Horse” programs that allow individuals to support rescued animals directly. The organization also provides basic horse handling and safety lessons for adults, children, veterans, and individuals with special needs, hosts educational clinics and expos, and serves as a resource for equine-related referrals within the community.
